Mucha Alphonse Mucha
1860-1939 Austrian painter, born in Czech Republic. In 1885, he created a poster for the play Gismonda starring actress Sarah Bernhardt. This work was a great success in Paris, and he quickly became a leading figure of Art Nouveau, solidifying his position as a graphic designer. In addition to Sarah Bernhardt, he produced numerous other posters, characterized by their combination of women and stylized ornamentation. He also created many decorative panels and worked as an illustrator. His style of expressing various concepts such as stars, jewels, and flowers using female figures, along with his designs that extensively utilize magnificent curves, are highly acclaimed even today.
